The investigation of color and challenge of giving it form is paramount to why I paint. The end product of this process is a painting that is considered complete when I feel there is a sense of “rightness” to it. It must stand as an object worthy of contemplation, with content and feeling expressed through nuance of color.

In a time of uncertainty and unrest, I create these paintings as an act of faith. That faith is in the strength of the human spirit and it’s immense capacity to take joy in the play of light and form. That joy can be in art and it can be in life. I believe that even now it is a meaningful practice to make physical objects based primarily on color, form, and feeling. Painting continues to be relevant today because in it’s essence it is a unique poetry expressed through concrete and visceral means.
